Easykart Florida Congratulates U.S. Team
Easykart Florida would like to congratulate all the 13 US finalists at the latest Easykart International Grand Finals, held at Siena, Italy, October 16-18th.
In the Easykart 60 class our recognition goes out to;
Brian Lockwood, Justin Wood, Collin Warren, Christopher Morrison.
These 4 kids had their greatest experience battling it out against other 85 participants, making thru the final B.
Collin managed to finished 6th awarding him a final spot to the Grand Final A, in the same B group with less luck were Morrison and Lockwood who looked promising at the start only to be taken out in the first lap, Wood completing the heat in 23rd spot.
In the 100cc class it was the opportunity for more experienced drivers like Alex Karabourniotis, Eric Filgueiras , Jorge Sagarra, Dorothy Rhea and John Rhea to carry on in the heats, with Filgueiras finishing with a strong second place awarding him a direct transfer to grand final A, John Rhea in 12th, Jorge Sagarra in 15th and Dorothy Rhea 24th these would finish their day in final B.
For the Grand Final with Karabourniotis already qualified to start in 14th and Filgueiras who moved into the final A, to start in 32nd it was Eric’s chance to charge forward and move up spots taking on his contenders one by one earning spots lap by lap and finishing with a convincing 17th spot, Karabourniotis would end his final in 24th spot.
One well known Italian driver to all of us who ran the FKCS series and the Easykart Grand Final, Riccardo Geltrude finished and honorable 4th place in the World Final.
In the light 125cc class was well represented by Joffrey Amaya, Dominic Lamanna and Henry Ferree, all three had their share of mechanical issues, Joffrey would finish heat 1-A in 6th place having the second fastest lap time of 43.988 , Ferree and Lamanna would finish 12th and 14th respectively in group B.
In final B only the 6 top finishers would transfer over to Grand Final A, in this case Lamanna would take the win of the 16 lap heat followed by Ferree in 6th, they both transferred over to the Grand final.
In heat 2-A Joffrey began charging strong only to be excluded from the race when mechanical failure appeared relegating him to almost last, hence hurting his chances for a better position for the Grand Final, and locating himself for the finish in 21st spot.
For the Grand Final of 26 laps , Lamanna would start 28th and Ferree 34th, in lap 1 Amaya chooses to take the outside line and from there on charging lap after lap, taking driver by driver dropping his times to have the 3rd fastest lap of the race, 43.788 finishing a well deserved 9th place in World Finals.
The only US entry in the heavy class was Brett Thompson of Tallahassee, Fl who had his share of carburetion problems, qualifying overall 24th on Fridays combined qualifying practice, Thompson goes for 10th position in Heat B, looking promising for the Grand final, but again chassis handling issues held him up relegating him to 26th in the Grand Final.
Overall it was a great experience and exposure for the US drivers who were exposed to an International Level of driving in a spec environment where driving skill makes the difference.
Easykart Florida is committed for next years World Final in working and preparing the future participants for achieving better results and the final goal of bringing home the World Champion Trophy.
